On the occasion of Henry Ziegler Steinway’s 100th birthday, here’s is a document from my archive. This is a „binaural walk“ though Steinway Hall New York, which was from 1925 until the end of 2014 the center of the Steinway universe, located on 57th West Street New York, opposite of Carnegie Hall. A magic place of music history, you realized immediately, having entered through the door, leaving behind the noisy street…

The Guardian-GCHQ incident – the end of common values?

ss-BuzzmachineQuelle: wbJeff Jarvis on his blog Buzzmachine takes a look at „The NSA, Germany and journalism“. He’s discussing the difference in media reaction on the recently published Guardian incident, when the UK Government forced the paper to destroy material they had obtained during the Snowden/NSA/GQHC affair. German papers – i.e. Süddeutsche Zeitung und Spiegel-Online and their websites put this on top on August 20th, whereas leading media in the UK (The Times) and US (Washington Post) don’t mention it at all. In addition to Jeff Jarvis, I’d like to add a few considerations here…..

Qualitätsmedium aus Qualitätsgerät: Radio der 50er Jahre

Die öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanbieter verstehen sich als „Qualitätsmedien“. Das gebietet in Deutschland allein schon der in den Rundfunkgesetzten vorgeschriebene Auftrag: Information, Bildung, Unterhaltung. Aber was genau ist diese Qualität? Welche Kriterien gelten dabei? Welche Parameter? Überhaupt: Welche Qualität? Die des Inhalts? Die der Technik?

Dazu fand am 18. und 19. Juni in München ein Symposium statt, veranstaltet vom Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) und der ARD-ZDF-Medienakademie.
